Good location.

The hotel managment is two-faced and will try to rip you off anywhere they can. After living in Egypt for 2 years and staying at many places in Dahab, I can honestly say I have never been so disappointed with an accommodation in Dahab. They are extremely fake and very unprofessional.

I stayed at Star of Dahab for 3 nights and had an amazing time! First off, all of my correspondence prior to my arrival was answered promptly and professionally. I arranged for taxi pickup at the Sharm Airport through the hotel and much to my surprise Karim, the Hotel Manager, came with the driver to personally greet me. That was a first! It was definitely the beginning of many personal touches and great customer service that Star of Dahab provides. After I checked in I was offered a welcome drink, which is common in Egypt, My double room was basic but scrupulously clean, and it had a terrace with a sea view where I could sit and work if I needed to (the hotel has free wireless internet). There was always hot water, and my room was cleaned daily. It was always fun to return at the end of the day and try and guess which form my clean towels would take. I had an alligator, a baby and swans to mention a few! I ate all of my meals at the Sultana Restaurant which is hotel property as well. The location on the beach, combined with glowing lanterns, plenty of shade, and comfy pillows, make it a great place to read, relax, and chat with the staff. If you're reading this, stop looking at hotels in Dahab and book with Star of Dahab already! If you're still not sure if you should go to Egypt in general - go! I felt completely safe especially in Dahab - so use your tourist dollars and help support the local economy!

All of the staff were great. I extended my stay with no problems. The attached dive shop, Big Blue is highly reccomended, Very professional.

The Staff were very friendly and very helpful. They did not try to sell me any tours unless I asked about it. They were very helpful in arranging a tour to Mount Sinai for me, and I believe I paid a fair price too. Although I missed breakfast due to my tour to Mount Sinai, they provided breakfast for me on my return. They were also quick to resolve any problems I had with the room. The rooms are big and have a good working air condition unit, although I did not use it that much. There were two beds in the room I used and they were more small double size than single.

The shower was a bit problematic and I had to ask someone to look at it on two occasions. One of my main bugbears is showers that do not work well. However, it is not a perfect world so I expect that things can go wrong sometimes. The hotel staff were very quick to resolve the problem when I brought it to their attention. This is not a luxury hotel but if you're like me and just looking for a clean and comfortable place to spend a few nights. Just make sure to check that the shower works first, although I expect that I was just unlucky. The only other issue was that it is advertised as a hotel with cable TV but there really was only the option of BBC World News and another news channel. However, this did not bother me, as I had no intention to stay indoors watching tv for the duration of my holiday.

Courteous staff. Clean comfortable pension style rooms. Dive shop next door for trips.Standard euro breakfast. Hotel is in Mashraba area of Dahab not in Assalah as shown on map. A 10 minute walk south of the "main area" of Dahab. To find the hotel just look for the palm tree cell phone tower in south dahab.Great snorkel spots around hotel. If you are not a beginner you can go out just 50 meters south of the hotel. Or you can walk to "islands" 10-15 minute walk south, or walk to eel garden 15 minutes north. Be sure to treat yourself to "Ali Baba restaurant", it is expensive but they have great service, food, and the best sheesha in town.

they had some really cute puppies but they barked at night, I think they will be gone soon though.

The hotel was perfect for my idea of relaxing holidays. I stayed there for 10 enjoyable days. It was in the quieter part of the town right by the sea and with it´s own tiny beach and easy access to coral reef. The room was quiet, spacious, simply furnished yet comfortable facing a small shady garden which was pleasant. The staff was friendly and efficient and the adjacent Big Blue dive centre provided very professional service.

The room was not cleaned every day, only when I asked for it which was no big deal.

Star of Dahab is a nice hotel with a very friendly staff.

Easy to book online. Very relaxed and friendly management and staff. Medium quality hotel right beside the beach. Lots of restaurants and diving facicilities nearby and easy access to tours from the hotel and nearby the hotel. The food and atmosphere here are great after being elsewhere in Egypt.

This is not a fault with the hotel, but the sea is very shallow and rocky nearby. I wasn't there long enough to find a good place to swim, but I know they are there because it is a dive centre.

I like a big rooms and balcon with beautiful sea view, friendly staff, nice pizza in the restaurant, hotel manager's birthday party :-)
